Written by Press Release on October 1, 2018
On October 10thfrom 6:00-7:30 pm, in the UOG CLASS Lecture Hall, Independent Guåhan will be organizing its first ever Kao Un Tungo’? Inacha’igen Tiningo’ put i Estao-ta or “Do you Know? Political Status Trivia Competition.” At this event, all candidates seeking political office in the 2018 election have been invited to participate in a friendly trivia game, in order to help increase awareness of Guam’s current political status and the importance of decolonizing and changing it to something more equitable.
There will be no winners or losers for this game, as the intent is to educate the current slate of potential leaders and increase their knowledge base on this critical issue. The public is also welcome to attend and watch the candidates answer questions and discuss their answers.
Independent Guåhan is a public outreach group that receives funding from the Commission on Decolonization in order to educate the island community about independence as a possible future political status for Guam. Each month, it organizes several events, General Assemblies, Teach-Ins and coffee shop conversations, podcasts all aimed at helping the people of Guam understand the centrality of political status to life on Guam, and the need to change it as we look to Guam’s future. Kao Un Tungo’ is meant to be a new creative form of this outreach.
As of this release the following candidates are confirmed to attend: Telo Taitague, Harold Cruz, Clynt Ridgell, Sabina Perez, Amanda Blas, Doris Flores Brooks and Tina Muña Barnes.
