Chief of the Guam Police Department (GPD), Stephen Ignacio speaks to Patti about the 18% increase in pay to Peace Officers as a means to provide incentive for officers to remain on the force. According to Ignacio, GPD is often competing with federal entities to try and keep more officers on the force, but more frequently loses as federal jobs are able to provide more benefits. Chief Ignacio also says he is working with the Department of Administration (DOA) on a retention agreement which he believes would contribute to an increase in patrol officers as a result of the pay hike.
