Director for Guam Behavioral Health & Wellness Center (GBHWC), Theresa Arriola speaks to Patti following an upset listener of NewsTalk K57 yesterday who alleged that she sought help from GBHWC’s 24-hour crisis line on behalf of her daughter, but after several attempts had no one pick up the line. Arriola says after speaking with the caller in question, she learned the caller’s daughter is of legal adult age, and is not seeking help for herself, which in turn limits GBHWC’s ability to offer assistance. According to Arriola, “Unfortunately, if [the patient] is not deemed incompetent by a court or court ordered to Guam Behavioral Health, the adult has the say of their health care”.
